Budget to drive Penang city’s growth

Work in progress: The RM44.2mil paired road project to alleviate traffic jams along Jalan Paya Terubong by linking Lebuhraya Thean Tek in Ayer Itam to Lebuh Bukit Jambul in Relau, Penang, is expected to be completed within three years.

THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has tabled RM506mil for its 2019 Budget, a deficit of RM94.6mil against a revenue estimate of RM411.4mil.

Mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the RM44.2mil construction of a paired road on Jalan Paya Terubong from Lebuhraya Thean Tek in Ayer Itam to Lebuh Bukit Jambul in Relau would take up a big chunk of the budget.
