Voucher boost for contest

ATTENDEES at the Cheer 2018 cheerleading competition finals this Saturday can get their hands on cash vouchers from online shopping platform Shopee.

As product sponsor, Shopee Malaysia will offer RM10,000 worth of vouchers to those who show up for the event at Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur.

“It is generally very affordable to shop on our platform as we work very closely with most of the top Malaysian brands and local businesses to offer the best deals to our users,” says Shopee Malaysia PR lead Alex Liew.

“Shopee adds value for buyers with free shipping services, Shopee coins (redeemable as cash for future purchases) and more, making the online purchasing experience all the more attractive.

“Since Malaysians are always on the lookout for a good bargain, these cash vouchers will definitely sweeten the deal,” he says, adding that there will be 1,250 vouchers of RM8 each to be given out.

Liew says that Shopee, a first-time sponsor for Cheer, recognises the event as one of the largest national cheerleading competitions.

“Shopee is a dynamic e-commerce platform which appeals to all Malaysians. Users of Shopee include students, young working adults and parents – the same group of people who are interested in Cheer,” he said.

“This is an opportune time for us to engage with our users as well as potential users, and treat them to a discount for their next purchase on Shopee.”

Cheer 2018, organised by Star Media Group, is “a wonderful initiative by The Star,” said Liew.

“We commend The Star for encouraging young Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle, especially with the alarming statistics revealing that more and more Malaysians are overweight and obese.

“When it comes to inculcating good lifestyle habits, it is always better to start young and Cheer is doing just that.”

Meanwhile, Reckitt Benckiser (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is sponsoring its VanishOxi Action Stain Remover Powder along with an additional RM5 Shopee cash voucher for Cheer 2018 participants.

“We heard of this opportunity (to sponsor Cheer 2018) from Shopee and decided to contribute as the values of Cheer resonate well with our brand,” said the company’s national account manager (e-commerce) Tom Tan.

“Our mission at Reckitt Benckiser is to enable healthier lives and happier homes through our products. We believe that is exactly what Cheer is all about as well.

“Furthermore, Cheer is a great initiative as it promotes sports and teamwork.

Also a first-time sponsor, Reckitt Benckiser will be handing out 700 units of Vanish Fabric Oxi Action Stain Remover Powder together with 700 RM5 Shopee vouchers.

Tan says the stain remover product will benefit participants and the audience as they will mostly be students and parents.

“They all work hard to keep their uniforms, white work shirts and blouses clean. Detergent alone is not enough.

The event sponsor for Cheer 2018 is Appeton Teengrow while the official venue sponsor is Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur.

The prize sponsor is Sunway Education Group.

The other product sponsors are Sunway Lost World Of Tambun, Kao Malaysia, F&N and EIG Pharma Asia.

The event (8am to 7pm) is sanctioned by the Cheerleading Associa-tion and Register of Malaysia (Charm).
