SOME 285 old girls of SMK Convent Bukit Nanas (CBN) and former teachers got together to celebrate the launch of the Convent Bukit Nanas Alumni and alumni website.

Bank Negara governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus, who is a CBN old girl, officiated at the event held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The event marked an exciting milestone for the school with its first-ever official alumni and website at www.cbnalumni.org.

Former students were urged to register as members and volunteer for roles in the committee to ensure a vigorous and productive alumni that would give back to the school.

Convent Bukit Nanas is one of the oldest schools in Malaysia, having been established in 1899.

The official alumni provides a platform for members to maintain active networking and its programme is aligned with the school’s philosophy.

One of the plans that the alumni has is to establish a heritage centre in the school to showcase its roots as a mission school that offers quality education to Malaysian girls from all walks of life, underpinned by the motto, “Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty”.

The first annual general meeting is planned for Oct 27 to elect the alumni’s committee members.

Next year, the school will celebrate its 120th anniversary.
