Healthy support for cheerleading

Cheah says the company is sponsoring a box of Appeton Teengrow for each participant of Cheer 2018.

APPETON has always been synonymous with the spirit of “Health for Life”.

As such, it will be showing its support for Cheer 2018, a competitive platform for teenagers to showcase their talent and one that instils a healthy lifestyle.

Kota Pharma Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Cheah Ming Loong believed that a healthy lifestyle is a balance between an active lifestyle, healthy mind and balanced nutrition.

“For someone to benefit from good health while going into adulthood, we have to instil this spirit of Health for Life into our youth of today.

“Seeing the teens’ energetic performance is invigorating and inspiring because some of their ‘stunts’ are unbelievable. Only the young and the fit can perform at this competitive level,” he said.

“The millennials are very well connected and informed through social media, so traditional advertising may not reach them.

“Furthermore, as a parent myself, we are sometimes afraid they spend too much time on the Internet and not enough time outdoors.

“Hence, we see that Cheer is the right fit for Appeton to engage with the youth which can lead to inculcating our spirit of ‘Health for Life’ among them,” he added.

Cheah reckoned Cheer has the potential to be made into a national sporting event.

“It’s been running for more than 10 years with a good following at the school level. Cheer is a vibrant sporting event where youth get to exercise with an injection of fun. Participants need not only to be fit and healthy but they also must be creative in their acrobatic act,” he explained.

The winning team will receive a one-year supply of Appeton Teengrow, while all participants will receive a box of Appeton Teengrow.

Cheer 2018 is organised by Star Media Group, with Appeton as sponsor, Quill City Mall KL as the official venue sponsor and Sunway Education Group as the prize sponsor.

The event is supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Education Ministry and the Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia.
