Women already playing a role in local councils, says Tan


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Federal government’s move requiring local authorities (PBT) to appoint women to make up at least 30% of their councillors is not new for Johor as it has implemented the policy at various levels over the years, said state Local Government, Science and Technology Committee chairman Tan Hong Pin.

He said implementing the policy had resulted in the state now having a number of women representatives in local authorities although the number had not reached 30%.
