Pulau Tikus’ new face intends to upgrade constituency

NEWLY ELECTED Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit did not waste any time to thank his voters at the Pulau Tikus market.

Marketgoers rushed forward to congratulate and take selfies with the former councillor who won with an overwhelming margin in a three-cornered fight.

Lee, 36, polled 11,679 votes to beat Barisan Nasional’s Jason Loo Jieh Sheng and MUP’s Wee Kean Wai, who garnered 2,434 and 75 votes respectively.

He takes over from former assemblyman Yap Soo Huey, who has decided to further her studies overseas.

Lee, who is a Pulau Tikus boy, said he planned to make the constituency a more viable area for residents.

“One of the main things I want to do is to improve the infrastructure and public spaces in Pulau Tikus to ensure that they are put into maximum use.

“For example, there are many fields in Pulau Tikus including the one behind the Penang Adventist Hospital which could be upgraded into a public park. I’m also looking into upgrading the JKKK building into an activity centres for the community,” he said yesterday.
