THE distribution of financial aid for the Penang I-Sejahtera programme in central Seberang Prai district will be postponed for a week.

State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh (DAP -– Sungai Puyu) said financial aid under the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme and Golden Student Scheme were scheduled to be handed out this Saturday, and Sunday and from Nov 13 to 17 for all the five districts.

However, the distribution in central Seberang Prai has to be postponed for a week as the district office hall is being used as a flood relief centre.

“The distributions in central Seberang Prai for the 2,765 recipients under the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme and 990 recipients for the Golden Student Scheme will be held on Nov 18 and 19, and Nov 20 to 24 instead.

“The other four districts were not affected and aid distribution will continue as scheduled,” he said at the state legislative assembly building yesterday.

He apologised to the recipients in central Seberang Prai district for the inconvenience.

“As letters have been sent out, we are now calling the recipients to inform them about the changes,” said Phee.
