Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Rokiah Omar is a UKM lecturer and low vision specialist who researches on low vision impairment. She also works with the International Blind Sports Federation and International Paralympic Council as an international visual impairment classifier.

THOUGH she is unassuming in appearance, Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Rokiah Omar’s work speaks of the many children, adults and people with visual disabilities who have benefited from her help over the past two decades and counting.

The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) lecturer and low-vision specialist researches on low-vision impairment, which led her to start a campaign on early detection and prevention of vision impairment among young children.
