Meaty delights at festive buffet

While turkey is the traditional bird at Christmas feasts, a hotel in Petaling Jaya is introducing a juicier, equally festive alternative.

At Cinnamon Coffee House in One World Hotel, executive chef Ahmad Rizal Othman said big, juicy chickens from France had been specially flown in.

“As a halal-certified restaurant, we were unable to get good quality halal turkey in time for Christ­mas so we are serving something special that is rare in Malaysia.”

One of the flavourful dishes made with the French chook is the Roasted Jumbo Chicken Stuffed with Pilaf Rice.

“There will also be Baked Whole Black Angus and Roasted Lamb Crown for meat lovers,” says Ahmad Rizal.

Another highlight is the Baked Norwegian Salmon Coulibiac featuring four fillings.

Encased in a delicate pastry is buttered rice, salmon fillet, mushroom duxelles and boiled eggs.

Diners can look forward to assorted cheese platters, appetisers and fresh salads.

The Seafood on Ice section features an assortment of snow crab, prawn, mussel and half-shell scallop. Live stations include grill and pasta.

At the grill station, diners can choose from beef wagyu, ribeye, lamb shoulder, slipper lobster, seabass en papillote and fresh squid.

Main course highlights include Seafood Paella, Baked Whole Chicken with Creamy Mushroom Sauce, Slow-roasted Barbecue Short Ribs, Grilled Lamb Shoulder with Onion Mustard Sauce and Baked Seabass with Garlic-Spinach Creme.

There are also Malay, Chinese, Indian and Japanese dishes.

At the dessert table, guests will be mesmerised by pretty, Christ­mas-themed desserts.

Offerings include Chocolate Ganache Praline, Mont Blanc Petit Gateau, Apple Gateau, assorted Christmas cookies, Buche de Noel, Marron Glace, Chest­nut Cake, Christ­mas Yule Log, Rudolph Cake, Rasp­berry Mousse, Vanilla Creme Brulee Tart­lets, Nutty Velvet Cup­cake, Croquembouche and Mince Pies.

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day buffet dinner, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, is priced at RM298nett per adult, RM208nett for senior citizens and RM169nett per child.
