RESIDENTS of Section 14, Petaling Jaya, are saying that an air-conditioning compressor in a new high-rise development is too noisy.
They raised their concerns with Bukit Gasing assemblyman R.Rajiv during a recent gathering.
Resident Sharizan Borhan said the loud noise can be heard coming from the development in Section 52 during the day.
“I have a recording device that can measure noise levels and it can reach 60dB. I suspect the loud noise is from the new building’s air-con compressor,” he said.
Istara Condominium resident K. Anne said the noise could also be heard at night, up to 9pm.
“Despite shutting my doors and windows, the noise is still too loud,” she said.
Residents also requested that sound-proofing be done for LRT tracks.
“The noise from the train is louder now compared to three years ago,” said Anne.
Rajiv said he would meet Prasarana Malaysia Bhd on the issue.
On a different matter, Rajiv said there were plans to provide pedestrian walkways in Section 13 similar to the ones in Singapore’s Orchard Road.
“The council is designing the walkways and about 80 property owners in Section 13 will be funding it. It may take two years for it to be ready,” he said.
The Medan Selera in Section 14, above the wet market, will also be upgraded, Rajiv said.
On the Petaling Jaya Dispersal (PJD) Link, Rajiv said he had been told there were no plans to build a new highway.
There have been rumours that PJD would replace the Kinrara-Damansara Highway (Kidex) project which was axed.
