Indiscriminate rubbish dumping causing spike in cases, hearing told


LACK of coordination between the Selangor government’s health and local government portfolios could be among factors contributing to the increase in dengue cases.

At a hearing by the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) on Tuesday to study the reasons for the dengue outbreak, the Selangor Health Department’s Vector Unit senior assistant director, Dr Ooi Choo Huck, testified that indiscriminate rubbish dumping was one of the contributing factors.
