Trawlers detained for breaching licence conditions

KUANTAN: The Fisheries Department detained two Malaysians-registered trawler boats with 16 foreign fishermen onboard for breaching the conditions of their fishing licences.

Fisheries director-general Datuk Ismail Abu Hassan said one of the boats was detained at about 9am 18.5 nautical miles off Tanjung Tembeling for conducting fishing activities using equipment to catch squid without having a licence.
