Police hunt for three armed robbers

TEMERLOH: Police here are on the hunt for three armed men who robbed a factory manager of RM150,000 in cash.

Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Anuar Othman said the three men were dangerous as they had in their possession a pistol and an axe.

ACP Mohd Anuar said during the incident, the robbers trailed the victim’s car before they struck at a secluded spot in Charuk Puting near here.

“The 28-year-old victim has just withdrawn the money from a bank in town and was on his way back when his car was intercepted.

“One of the robbers alighted and smashed the front windscreen using an axe while his accomplice took out a pistol to threaten the victim.

“Fearing for his life, the victim handed over the money placed at the back passenger seat,” he said, adding that the money was for payment of staff salary for the festive season.

ACP Mohd Anuar said the robbers then fled in a Proton Persona car affixed with a false number plate.

He said acting on the report, police had launched a manhunt for the three men and urged the public to assist in providing information to the authorities.

“The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping,” he said.
