Natural cure for dengue

Made in Malaysia: Some of Felda Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd

FELDA Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd (FWC) plans to release a natural remedy for dengue with their new coconut extract-based product, by the year end.

FWC, a botanical drug development company based in Malaysia, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).

“We have already tested it and got positive results.

“We will be doing another round of testing to ensure it’s really safe for human consumption before moving on to do clinical trials on patients,” said FWC chief executive officer Mohd Nasir Shafion.

During the experimentation phase last year, they found that coconut milk extract which goes through a fermentation process had anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant components.

He said this during a visit with his team recently, to Menara Star in Section 16, Petaling Jaya.

Mohd Nasir said the Health Ministry was in support of the product and if they succeed, it would be the first natural dengue medicine in the world.

“We hope to see this medication administered in hospitals by the end of this year,” he said.

In the meantime, FWC will also be launching two new coconut-based products, one for consumption and another as a therapeutic oil.

The one for consumption comes in liquid form and is to be taken for the general well-being, while the other oil is to help heal wounds, scars and so on.

These products will be made available to the public soon.
