Reds will aim to keep mood going at Anfield

LIVERPOOL will look to continue regaining consistency and secure a positive result when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield today.

Having seemingly stopped the rot, with the Reds now on a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions, Arne Slot must ensure his side do not allow complacency to creep back in.

The 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek was a huge relief and a welcome boost for Liverpool, given their recent struggles.

They now need to kick on to salvage whatever they can from this troubled season.

Against Fabian Hurzeler’s team, Slot is likely to deploy a similar formation to the one that overcame Inter.

Liverpool will need to maintain stability and control, particularly in front of the defence, to minimise mistakes.

It must be said that Liverpool are not truly out of the woods, with concerns still lingering about the team’s mentality.

The Reds have been prone to crumbling this season, as errors leading to goals have often swung momentum to the opposition.

Brighton will no doubt be aware of this and look to capitalise on any defensive lapses to heap further misery on the Merseysiders.

Liverpool have several absentees: Cody Gakpo, Wataru Endo and Jeremie Frimpong are all injured, while Conor Bradley serves a one-match suspension.

Following his outburst last week, Mohamed Salah could also remain sidelined unless he and Slot resolve their differences.

Joe Gomez is expected to retain his place at right-back in Bradley’s absence, while Milos Kerkez may be recalled to the starting line-up ahead of Andrew Robertson, who played the full 90 minutes in midweek. — By IVAN LOH
