THE shadow of Erik ten Hag has been widely cast over Old Trafford as reports emerged this week that he may be appointed the next permanent manager of Manchester United.
The fans of this club, who have endured great suffering and pain over the last decade or so, should be forgiven for searching for the slightest bit of solace in the news that the Ajax manager has been installed as favourite to get the job and will waltz into the place with Steve McClaren as his assistant.
