Need for a truer test

Instead of hiring graduates based on their degrees – which puts pressure on a few to fake one – companies should devise better ways to gauge if they can do the job.

IF I am trying to hire you as a writer, the first thing you will get before your interview is a blank piece of paper and perhaps a pencil. Half an hour later, we will discuss what you wrote. Your chances of being hired will depend very strongly on whether we think we can work with you in a writing team and whether you can write (or at least learn how to write).
