Can I place my altar on the top floor of my double-storey house?

The ideal location for an altar should be in the north-east quadrant, on the ground floor. Images of deities should face east. If there is no space on the ground floor, the altar can be located in the north-east quadrant on the top floor. Another place for the altar would be the centre of the house and on the west wall facing east. All other locations are unfavourable.
