An eco-resort unlike any other in Pahang

The natural waterfall at the resort. — JOHAN JAAFFAR

My granddaughters, Tia and Thalia, don’t really like the wilderness. The jungle setting is never to their liking. But there is one eco-resort in Pahang that they do love, and they enjoyed their stay there.

Imagine a resort with a river running through it, and a natural waterfall with the cool, clean water cascading down to the bathers. And this is just one of the many spots in the 70ha Lembah Temir Eco Resort that you can dip yourself into.

My granddaughters also found the experience of swimming with fish exhilarating.

The chalets can accommodate up to 100 guests at any one time; most of the chalets are built on the river, while others are located in different parts of the resort. Lembah Temir also breeds its own fish.

Situated 25km from the town of Raub, the resort is a natural heaven. The owner, Che Din Sulaiman, says that guests are not just attracted to the chalets, river and waterfall, but also the 20ha durian farm, as well as the 6.5ha palm oil and 3.5ha rubber plantations.

For city dwellers, it is an adventure of a lifetime to get to be around trees normally only seen in images on their smartphones, or while travelling on the road to various destinations.

The resort also has a futsal arena, a swimming pool and for Muslims, a surau.

For those who love to venture into the wild, there are treks all around the place. The hikes can be challenging but worth your while.

The best time to head to this resort is during the durian season, which is soon.

Che Din bought the area from eight local farmers. The construction of the resort complex began in May 2013 and was completed in 2015. It is a labour of love for him.

A former accountant-turned- businessman, Che Din gives his personal touch to the resort. He named the buildings after family members, and the wakaf (resting place) after those in his home state, Kelantan.

For the discerning, this is a resort worth checking out.
