Sleek and unapologetically bold, the latest eyewear trend is turning functional frames into high-fashion statements.

According to Safilo Malaysia, several brands have leaned into performance-driven designs.

In a statement to StarTrends, the eyewear company noted that “the rise of athleisure and sports-luxury fashion has clearly influenced design.”

“We’re seeing a return to retro-sport influences – frames inspired by cycling, skiing or 1990s streetwear, now updated with premium finishes and luxurious details.”

Hugo Boss offers a refined take on sporty eyewear, often blending sleek minimalism with athletic influence – ideal for those seeking the best of both worlds.

The Carrera and Carrera Ducati collections channel the adrenaline of motorsports, featuring retro-style visors and racing-inspired frames.

Polaroid, meanwhile, prioritises functionality with polarised lenses that reduce glare – an advantage believed to enhance visual clarity for athletes.

While Eyewear By David Beckham brings effortless British style to classic designs, Levi’s injects a youthful, street-smart energy to its silhouettes.

Safilo Malaysia also noted that oversized wraparound frames, mirrored lenses and geometric shapes are among the key trends gaining momentum.

These shapes can work with any look – you don’t have to be dressed a certain way to carry them off with confidence.

The advice is to pair them with tailored pieces. A structured blazer, wide-leg trousers or sleek monochrome outfits can match well to give a sharp, high-fashion twist.

“For street-style looks, go bold with graphic tees, oversized outerwear or vintage sportswear – sporty sunglasses instantly tie the look together with an edge.”

Remember to also not shy away from colour. Mirrored lenses, for example, can elevate even the most casual outfit and give it an effortless, cool vibe.
