Inspired by the shoes worn by ballet dancers, ballet flats, ballet pumps and ballerinas have long been considered a major fashion staple.

While the shoe’s basic shape doesn’t vary all that much, brands are constantly updating and enhancing this popular form of footwear, experimenting with different materials, embellishments, bows are more.

Ferragamo began designing ballerinas as early as the 1920s, and crafted them for the Hollywood stars of the 1950s and 1960s such as Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe and Ingrid Bergman.

For the Autumn/Winter collection, the Vara bow ballet flat is featured in denim in a cool blue hue, with a contrasting raffia bow held by a custom golden buckle in the centre.

Christian Louboutin’s newly released Sweetie Jane Spikes ballerina embodies rock-chic style, flawlessly combining comfort and high fashion.

Featuring the Maison’s distinctive spikes, it exudes bold style whilst remaining practical, with its red leather sole further enhanced with a gleaming TPU finish – this guarantees durability and long-lasting vibrancy.

Gucci’s The Horsebit ballerina appears in a new style that evokes a youthful feel and marks a new chapter for the iconic shoe.

The slip-on nature and flat sole act as functional features, juxtaposing with the style’s perceived softness, as its wearable design allows for the dynamic movement of everyday life.
