Malaysian designer Keith Kee threw a grand runway showcase recently to celebrate his couture label’s 22nd anniversary.

Held in Kuala Lumpur, it saw some of the most fashionable people in attendence.

It was all glitz and glamour, with 22 beautiful ladies walking the runway at the start. These models are Kee’s friends, who have been fans of his couture designs for over a decade.

His anniversary collection embraced 22 colour palettes, with each shade said to represent the myriad of emotions that inspired him throughout his career.

Sumptuous fabrics were used – which included embroidered organza, French lace, Shantung silk, taffeta, Thai silk and more.

The theme of the evening was “tapestry in technicolour”. Designs span from elegant evening wear to chic party dresses.

During the event, Kee paid tribute to his family, his couture label’s team, clients, friends and members of the media.

He said that everyone played a part in his journey of 22 long years.

“Twenty-two is indeed a very special number for me, as this achievement marks a huge chapter of my career,” Kee remarked.

“I know I could not have reached it without each and every one of you who has touched my life.”

He dedicated his anniversary runway show to the people who have been supporting him.

“I am truly blessed and very grateful for the opportunity to be able to celebrate this unforgettable occasion. That’s why this evening’s show is my love especially for all of you, whether present or not.”

The main show comprised an evening wear segment. It dazzled with 20 elegant gowns and eight regal men’s suits.

Next up was the party wear segment. This focused on 10 sophisticated dresses. Couture wear closed the show, which featured 10 avant-garde pieces emphasising meticulous detailing.

Kee hails from Penang. His Keith Kee Couture label was established in 2001 there, but eventually it expanded to the Klang Valley.

His signature designs revolve around the modern classic aesthetic, as well as clean cut designs. He favours patch lace techniques and handmade embroidery, which enables him to create unique details in every dress that he designs.
