Italian fashion designer Davide Renne has died shortly after his appointment as creative director for Moschino.

The Italian luxury group Aeffe, Moschino's parent company, announced the news on Friday (Nov 10).

According to the ANSA news agency, he died in Milan at the age of 46 "after being hospitalised a few days ago due to a heart problem".

Renne had previously worked for the fashion company Gucci for a long time.

He was due to present his first collection for Moschino at Milan Fashion Week in February 2024.

"There are no words to describe the immense pain we are experiencing at this dramatic moment," said Massimo Ferretti, chief executive of Aeffe.

He was further quoted by ANSA: "Davide had only joined us a few days ago when a sudden illness ended his young life far too soon. We still can't believe what has happened."

"[Renne had managed] to make us love and respect him immediately. We are now left with the responsibility of continuing what his imagination and creativity only hinted at," Ferretti said.

Ferretti expressed his condolences to Renne's relatives. – dpa
