Malaysian songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza recently launched her own hijab label. This is something she has always yearned for, ever since she started wearing one in 2013.

Speaking on the subject, Siti says covering up should make you feel comfortable – but most importantly, confident.

For her, the make or material of a hijab comes first.

"The most important thing for me is always the quality of the hijab itself, next to the design of it," she adds.

Her label is named Afiya. It captures the positivity, intelligence, elegance and modesty of her daughter, Siti Aafiyah.

It is result of a collaboration with another big name in Malaysia, designer Datuk Jovian Mandagie. With the help of the team behind the Jovian Mandagie Group, Siti hopes to take her label to an international level.

This is not Siti's first business venture. She launched her own cosmetics brand SimplySiti back in 2010.

When asked, she says modestwear is certainly a competitive business. She thinks it is also a fact-paced industry that has seen rapid growth all over the world.

"Modestwear has been a lifestyle for many women in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia for years, so it’s interesting to see the emergence and spread of modestwear in the West."
