The Primetime Emmy Awards for this year went digital in view of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Yet, celebrities still dressed up in their best outfits for the occasion.
Without a red carpet, everyone had to rely on Instagram or video calls to show off their looks. The backdrop? Their homes, backyards and even hotel rooms.
Some stars even went so far as to organise photoshoots (either a personal endeavour or arranged by the fashion designers in advance) to ensure the best possible pictures.
Kerry Washington evoked a cheerful vibe by wearing a floral Oscar De La Renta gown. Musician H.E.R. stood out in a fuschia qipao-inspired dress designed by Vera Wang.
Regina King revealed on Instagram the actual gown she would have worn if the red carpet event had happened – an electric blue Schiaparelli dress with larger-than-life sleeves, plus an explosion of jewel embellishments.
On video call, she instead wore a bright pink suit from the same label.
With or without a red carpet, Zendaya didn't miss the chance to serve up fabulous fashion. The star, who became the youngest Emmy winner for "Lead Actress In Drama", teased her followers with posts on Instagram Live.
In one clip, she modelled a statement design by Christopher John Rogers.
The men are not left out though. Eugene and Dan Levy looked pretty dapper for their private Schitt's Creek Emmys party. The former in a classic suit, and the latter wearing a pleated skirt and matching blazer from Thom Browne.
Actor Paul Mescal was fully suited up in Louis Vuitton. He commented in his Instagram post: "This is nuts. I am wearing @louisvuitton on my stairs for the Emmys!"
And finally you have Billy Porter. Known for his daring sense of style, he sported a stunning tailored white jacket with a matching white sash by Ashi Studio.
