What's a style-conscious person to do when a period of warmer weather rolls around? Well, there is always a way with fashion.

It's always possible to put together outfits that combine comfort and style. So it happens, the hottest must-haves of this season can also keep you feeling cool.

The slip dress

A favourite among the fashion-conscious for several years now, the slip dress is an ideal garment comfort-wise because it doesn't constrict the body. It is generally loose and can be found in materials that are light and airy like cotton.

For those who have not yet invested in this fashion essential, look for one that is rather long (mid-calf length), with delicate straps that allude to the visible lingerie trend, but which can be worn as daywear.

The advantage of this dress style is that, depending on the office, it can often be worn for work as well as on vacation; just accessorise according to the situation and your personal style.

When choosing shoes to go with such dresses, opt for flat styles like sandals or gladiator-style footwear.

Bermuda shorts

Last year was all about cycling shorts, now it's the turn of bermuda shorts, which were seen all over the runway during the presentations of the Spring/Summer 2020 collections.

It's a perfect alternative to short-shorts or denim shorts, which are great for vacation looks but not so much for work situations.

When choosing a model, remember to pay attention to the material for optimum comfort. Rather than denim, look for linen and cotton, two fabrics that are recommended for warmer weather.

Bermuda shorts can be paired with a T-shirt, a tank top, or a classic crop top, and even a blazer for a sunshiny take on the traditional pantsuit.

The miniskirt

The 1960s witnessed a revolution in the world of fashion with the arrival of the miniskirt, largely associated with the designs of Mary Quant.

Nearly six decades later, the miniskirt remains ever-popular and is a true ally when it comes to versatile dressing as it allows the wearer to stay stylish in the city, at the beach or even in the countryside without the issues associated with many garments.

Another advantage is that there's a miniskirt out there for nearly every style, whether classic or ruffled, in various fabrics and featuring the latest on-trend colours and patterns.
