Drivers that are about to overtake cyclists on the road should be mindful of keeping a safe enough distance.

The minimum distance should be 1.5m, according to one German automobile club. However, this increases to 2m not only for lorries and vehicles driving at speeds above 90kph, but also for those driving on uneven or poorly maintained roads, in windy conditions or when the cyclist is a child.
