MALAYSIANS have the great privilege of having a glorious summer sun almost all year long. Many of us are constantly exposed to long hours of sunlight, even from a tender young age. Unknown and unseen, damage by the sun’s radiation gradually accumulates in the upper layers of the skin and eventually produces the classical features of photo-damage and photo-ageing.
It is a common misconception that photo-ageing is a problem that affects mainly fair-skinned Caucasians. Unfortunately, the truth is, it also affects Malaysians as well, though it may take a longer time to become obvious.
