MANY cancer patients resort to nutritional supplements to strengthen their immune systems but they may not realise that the boosters may make cancer cells more resilient. 

Cancer patients undergoing treatment are advised against taking antioxidants, said Dr Gurcharan Singh Khera, consultant clinical oncologist. “Whilst antioxidants protect the body, they may also protect the very cancer cells which doctors are trying to kill.”
