Both my parents suffer from gout. What exactly is it?
Gout is a very painful disease caused by needle-like deposits of uric acid crystals in connective tissue or between two bones (in the joints), or both. Naturally, the areas are irritated. This leads to inflammation with its usual symptoms of redness, swelling, heat, pain, and stiffness.
