WHEAT (Triticum spp.) shares the spotlight alongside corn and rice as one of the top most produced crops worldwide.

As a type of grass, grown for its useful grain, it was originally from the Levant region (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel, the Palesti-nian territories and sometimes parts of Turkey and Iraq) of the Near East.
