‘Doomsday’ came and went, while mankind continues its headlong rush to burn itself up along with the planet’s resources.

SO, we had this cheeky introduction written to the usual kickoff piece for our annual year-end roundup. It went something along the lines of mankind sending an indignant “we’re still standing” message to the Mayans – and to Roland Emmerich, that purveyor of end-of-the-world entertainment.
