Filling up the rice bowl

The winds of change are blowing through Batang Lupar as the padi farmers experience a totally new way of doing things.

WE arrived at the longhouse in style, caked with mud from tramping around in the padi fields and soaked to the bone from the rain. We were hungry, tired and very rattled from a bumpy seven-hour journey in a van to Batang Lupar in the south of Sarawak to visit the site of a padi farming pilot project and meet the participating farmers.
