WE all know children learn through play. But as they happily immerse themselves in all sorts of games and activities, safety must remain a priority. Even in toys.

Last week, China’s safety watchdog said it found one in 10 toys in the domestic market to be unsafe. Some of the products “contained heavy metals such as lead and chromium, which can be poisonous, while other products had sharp edges and dangerous protuberances”, a statement by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said.
