IN a news report on April 27 (No more nursing schools from July, Nation, The Star), Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced that there would be no more new private institutions offering nursing courses.
Khaled said the country was on track in achieving the recommended World Health Organisation nurse to population ratio of 1:200. Malaysia’s current ratio is said to be 1:490.
