Malaysian model Lisa Ch’ng and Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung have officially tied the knot after 10 years together.
The couple celebrated their union with a lavish wedding banquet at a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 2, attended by around 300 relatives and friends from Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Among the celebrity guests were Hong Kong celebrity couple Kenneth Ma and Roxanne Tong, actress Nancy Sit, singer Maria Cordero and actor Max Cheung.
In an interview with local media, Ch’ng, 39, and Yeung, 45, reflected on their long-time relationship, sharing that their bond had evolved beyond romance into one of deep companionship after weathering many highs and lows together.
Ch’ng – who is based in Hong Kong – said she chose to hold the wedding in Malaysia to honour her late father, Malaysian tycoon Datuk Bill Ch’ng Chong Poh.
“Malaysia is where my father grew up. I wanted to come back to remember him and hoped the whole family could gather together happily,” she said.
When asked whether they had grown accustomed to calling each other “husband” and “wife”, Yeung laughed and admitted he was still getting used to it.
“Before this, we weren’t officially married, but now I can finally call her my wife,” he said.
The newlyweds also shared their hopes of starting a family but made it clear that they would let nature take its course.
“We’re entering a new stage of life, so of course we’d like to have children and continue the family line. However, we won't force it,” Yeung said.
Lisa Ch’ng said she hopes to have two children, explaining: “One child might feel lonely, but two can grow up keeping each other company.”
As for their honeymoon, Ch’ng said they have yet to make any plans.
When asked to share a heartfelt message with her husband, Ch’ng turned to Yeung and said, “Thank you for always being tolerant of me. I’ll keep the rest of the mushy words in my heart.”
For the record, Ch’ng and Yeung first met while working on the TVB sitcom Come Home Love. The couple went public with their romance in 2016.
Earlier this year, Yeung said he hoped to hold a grand wedding banquet rather than settle for a simple registration ceremony.
Ch’ng also previously shared that she would marry no one else but Yeung.
