Popular Hong Kong actor Joel Chan recently touched down in Malaysia for work, and he made sure to make the most of his downtime exploring the country.

On Monday (May 4), the 49-year-old delighted fans on social media with a photo dump of his visit to Penang Hill, one of Malaysia’s most popular and historic tourist destinations.

Highlights of the trip included the TVB star bravely posing with a python, taking in sweeping views from the hilltop and striking poses alongside various murals.

In the caption, he wrote in Chinese: “A day of work in Penang, with stolen moments of leisure amidst a busy schedule.”

The post quickly gained traction among fans, with many welcoming Chan to the state, while others marvelled over his bravery in posing with a snake.

“Welcome to Penang! Hope you’re having a good time and enjoying the food,” one user commented.

Another wrote: “Wow, you’re so brave to wrap the snake around your neck like that!”

One fan also encouraged Chan to catch up with fellow actor Philip Keung on his next visit to Penang, noting that the latter is a big fan of the island.

For the record, Chan attended a launch ceremony in Genting Highlands on May 1, alongside Canadian actress Jeannie Chan, as well as Hong Kong stars Bob Lam and Rosina Lam.

He later made an appearance at Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas, Penang, on the evening of May 3 for another launch event.
