Martial arts superstar Jet Li recently attended a spiritual lecture in Taiwan, where he spoke candidly about his relationship with his youngest daughter Jada.
During his talk, the 62-year-old actor revealed that Jada, now 23, struggled with depression when she was just seven years old.
At the time, she would often lock herself in her room after returning home from school, refusing to share anything with her dad.
“I really failed in my role. I was so busy doing charity work outside and didn’t take proper care of my own child at home.
“In the end, I changed my approach and chose to walk the journey with her. Rather than telling her what to do, I followed her lead. She taught me how to listen,” he shared.
Li added that he had no right to lecture his daughter, but only to accompany her on her journey through life.
Jada – who was present at the event – also reflected on her bond with Li, saying he has not only been a father to her but also a teacher and trusted friend.
“I’ve learned so much from him, and being able to help him is something that makes me very happy.
“I’m especially glad that many are curious to listen to the things he shares with me every day,” she said.
Jada added that seeing both her parents happy and relaxed made her more determined to keep living happily as well, and she began searching ways to overcome her mental struggles.
“He put everything aside to be with me and was always there whenever I needed help,” she said.
For the record, Li has two older daughters from his first marriage – Li Si, 37,and Taimi, 36.
He shares Jada and another 25-year-old daughter Jane with his second wife, former Hong Kong actress Nina Li.
