Former Cantopop artiste Roy Chow Wing-hang has addressed allegations that he concealed his marital status from singer Ivy Chow during their brief relationship.

The controversy arose after Ivy, a former member of Hong Kong girl group MVG, posted on Threads claiming that Roy had lied about being divorced from his Chinese wife Britni Chen.

In an interview with HK01, Roy denied the accusation, saying he had already explained his marital situation to Ivy before they started dating.

The 41-year-old added that he only began seeing Ivy after separating from his wife, though a formal divorce had not yet been filed.

“I had no need to lie or hide things from her,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ivy revealed in a separate interview with HK01 that she had dated Roy for about four months – from September last year to January this year.

According to her, Roy claimed Chen had cheated on him at the time, and he felt a lack of warmth at home.

Ivy went on to accuse Roy of stalking and making false abuse allegations against her, following their breakup.

Roy and his wife Chen, who married in 2018, are currently finalising their divorce.

In an Instagram Story on March 1, Chen said the process has been ongoing for nearly a year, adding: “I have already entrusted a lawyer to handle proceedings.”

The news surprised fans, especially after a recent photo of Roy hugging Chen on a train went viral on social media.

Commenting on the story behind the photo, Chen explained: “His family was handling a funeral then, so I only accompanied him to pay respects.”
