Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh may be a huge name in the Asian film industry, but even she isn’t immune to fangirling over fellow artistes.

The 50-year-old recently attended a Chinese New Year gathering, also joined by popular actors Michael Miu and Bosco Wong.

During the celebration, Sheh had the opportunity to meet her longtime idol, legendary movie star Chow Yun Fat.

On Monday (Feb 23), the award-winning actress shared a photo with the 70-year-old on Instagram, writing: “My first-ever selfie with Fat Gor!”

Sheh recalled a past encounter with Chow, reminiscing about the time she ran into him while dining at a restaurant in Clearwater Bay.

“I was so excited that I practically jumped out of my seat, but I was also shy then and could only quietly say, ‘Fat Gor ya!’”

Sheh also reflected on another interaction dating back to 2000, shortly after she entered the entertainment industry.

As the story goes, a senior had asked her to attend a training class, which initially left her feeling uneasy as she didn’t know anyone there.

But any awkwardness quickly turned to excitement when the Queen Of News star discovered that Chow would be leading the session.

“(My senior) knew Fat Gor was my idol and had me attend the class – such a clever move.

“I remember Fat Gor saying he recognised me because he had watched Return Of The Cuckoo.

“Although I appeared calm on the outside, I was bursting with fireworks on the inside,” she said.

Sheh added that while she hasn’t yet had the chance to collaborate with Chow, she’s content with finally having a photo with him.

“It already feels magical and heartwarming!”
