Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei shocked fans last December after revealing that he had broken up with his 39-year-old fiancee Chris Wong.

The split follows a revelation by a YouTuber that Wong has been married to a man surnamed Chen since 2007 and has a 16-year-old son with him in mainland China.

In a recent interview on a web programme, Lee admitted that the whole ordeal had taken a heavy toll on him.

However, the 75-year-old insisted that his ex-fiancee's feelings for him were genuine.

"I disagree with the term 'false affection'. From beginning to end, I never felt she was insincere towards me," he said.

The TVB star added that their romance might have survived had the influencer not exposed Wong's past online.

"If that YouTuber hadn't uncovered everything and made those videos, I believe it wouldn't be over yet," he said.

For the record, Wong – a Chinese national whose real name is Wang Qingxia – was sentenced to jail by the Shatin Magistrates' Court in June 2024 after pleading guilty to five charges related to overstaying in Hong Kong and document falsification.

During her time behind bars, Lee – who publicised his romance with Wong in 2020 – proposed to her and exchanged over 300 letters.

Upon her release and deportation back to China in July last year, the actor presented her with a bouquet of 60 roses.

He later admitted in a Hong Kong media interview that they gradually drifted apart after Wong returned to China.
