Hong Kong actor Oscar Leung recently came to Malaysia to promote his upcoming Chinese New Year movie, Mama Not Again, which was filmed in the country.
The flick, shot in Kuala Lumpur in 18 days, features talents such as Christine Ng, Joel Chan and Bob Lam.
During his latest trip to the nation's capital, Leung took the chance to mingle with locals at a shopping mall.
The 46-year-old told them about his upcoming film and playfully quizzed them on simple questions about family trees, offering RM10 for every correct answer.
However, things took an awkward turn when some failed to recognise him, leaving the actor momentarily speechless.
In an Instagram Reel, Leung asked a young woman if she knew who he was, to which she chuckled and admitted: "I don't know."
Another young woman said she recognised him but couldn't recall his name.
Undeterred, Leung lightheartedly encouraged them to watch Mama Not Again once it's released, joking that they would finally learn his name from the movie.
The clips quickly drew reactions online, with many netizens expressing amusement at the encounter.
Meanwhile, others said they would've recognised him instantly.
"The younger generation barely watches Hong Kong dramas," one person commented.
Another added: "If it were me, I would never let you down."
For the record, Leung made his acting debut in 1999 and is famous for his roles in TVB dramas such as L'Escargot, House Of Harmony And Vengeance and Tiger Cubs.
His performances in the aforementioned projects earned him the TVB Anniversary Award for Most Improved Male Artiste.
In 2018, Leung took home the Best Supporting Actor laurel at the TVB Anniversary Awards for his role in the legal drama OMG, Your Honour.
He married his longtime girlfriend Tina Lok in 2014, and the couple share two children – an eight-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.
