Amy Schumer shared more details of her weight loss journey in an Instagram post early Tuesday (Dec 2), revealing she lost 50 pounds (22.6kg) while fighting Cushing’s disease.

The Trainwreck star, 44, was first diagnosed with the disease in February 2024, after people noticed her face was unusually puffy.

“I didn’t lose 30 lbs, I lost 50,” Schumer wrote in her newest Instagram post. “Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive.”

Cushing’s disease occurs when the body carries too much of the stress hormone cortisol for an extended time. Symptoms include a rounder and puffier face, high blood pressure, bone loss and frail skin.

Schumer said Internet trolls commented on her puffier face, but she then realised it was an actual medical condition. Though Cushing’s disease can be deadly in certain cases, it often resolves on its own, as it did for Schumer.

“Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m pain free. I can [play] tag with my son.”

Schumer also mentioned undergoing liposuction and taking GLP-1 medications, which she has spoken about publicly in the past.

She tossed in an additional note about her marriage to husband Chris Fischer, which has recently been the subject of rumours.

“Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote. “Fingers crossed we can make it through, he’s the best.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
