Chinese actor Hu Ge has confirmed the birth of his second child – a baby boy – with his non-celebrity wife Huang Xining, who previously worked as his assistant.

The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2023, is also parents to a two-year-old daughter.

In a recent interview with Chinese media, Hu, 43, shared his joy at welcoming a son but admitted he sometimes feels like a "failing parent".

When asked about balancing family and work, the Blossoms Shanghai star said: "I've failed at that. I haven't found any balance at all."

Due to his demanding schedule, Hu's often away from home and misses significant moments in his children's lives.

The actor recalled one morning when, while preparing to leave for work, Huang asked their daughter to give him a kiss for motivation, but she refused.

"I initially felt upset, thinking it was defiance. But then I realised it was her way of showing she didn't want me to go. It made me see just how little time I spend with my kids," he said.

Determined to spend more time with his daughter, Hu began bringing her to his set so she could understand his work.

However, he recalled a past instance of taking her to a high-altitude location – a decision he admitted was both "reckless" and "dangerous".

"I'm striving to be a better person and to align my words with my actions," he said.
