Hong Kong actor Roger Kwok has opened up about his past extreme dieting.

In a video posted on his Xiaohongshu account, the 61-year-old stressed the value of health, admitting that it was only after losing weight that he truly understood its importance.

Kwok revealed that while preparing for his role as a business consultant kidnapped and held on a deserted island in the 2016 drama Dead Wrong, he shed 10kg in just two months.

The actor, who was married to former TVB star Cindy Au from 2006 to 2024, shared his two key strategies for rapid weight loss.

"Firstly, cut out starchy foods such as rice and bread. Secondly, eat boiled vegetables each day, without any oil, salt or sugar," he said.

Although effective, Kwok admitted that the approach came with a cost.

"I had a lot of trouble concentrating (after undergoing that diet)," he said.

Having learned from his experience, Kwok advised everyone to focus on regular exercise and maintain a balanced diet for healthy weight loss.

"Our health should be our top priority. It's best to take a gradual approach to lose weight in the long run," he said.

In another update, Kwok recently confirmed his departure from TVB after nearly 40 years with the Hong Kong broadcaster but didn’t disclose his reasons.

As for his future plans, the actor – known for TVB dramas like Square Pegs, Life Made Simple and Black Heart White Soul – said he would announce it when the time is right.
