Hong Kong actor Simon Yam recently experienced a moment most celebrities would find awkward – stumbling and falling as he made his way down the carpet.

On Nov 22, the 70-year-old attended a fashion show in Hong Kong with his wife, supermodel Qiqi.

As he approached Qiqi, who was getting ready for photos on the blue carpet, Yam suddenly tripped and fell.

Fortunately, he reacted quickly, using his hands to brace himself and rolling over before steadying on one knee.

His swift reflexes left everyone present amazed.

Following the fall, Yam showed no hint of embarrassment, remaining composed as he laughed and chatted with reporters.

"Now that was a perfect fashion show!" he joked.

While the sequins on his sleeve had come loose when he tumbled, the movie star said he wasn’t fazed at all: "I can fix it myself. I grew up poor, so I had to sew everything myself back then."

Yam then quipped: "I have a special affection for carpets. I especially love this blue one today."

When asked if he had sprained his ankle, the actor reassured everyone that he had no injuries.

"Thankfully, this beautiful carpet protected me. If I had really sprained my ankle, I wouldn't have been able to walk," he said.

Footage of Yam's fall has since made rounds on social media, with many netizens praising his composure and lightning-fast reflexes.

"His action movie experiences taught him how to roll and land on his side to cushion the fall," one netizen commented.

"He fell like James Bond," another said.

"Falling down in style. Take good care bro," wrote a third.

Yam is known for his performances in action flicks such as Bullet In The Head, PTU, Election and more.

He and Qiqi, who got married in 1997, share a 21-year-old daughter Ella.
