Hong Kong actor Benz Hui was reportedly hospitalised in critical condition on Monday (Oct 27).

According to Headline Daily, several family members and close friends – including actress Maria Luisa Leitao, actor Michael Miu, as well as TVB producers Jazz Boon and Lam Chi-wah – were seen visiting the 76-year-old.

Reporters on site described a sombre atmosphere, noting that most visitors declined to comment, saying it was more appropriate for Hui’s family to speak on the matter.

Earlier in June, Hui sparked health concerns when he reportedly experienced breathing difficulties while visiting his former home in Guangzhou, China.

In an interview with Macau media, actress Charmaine Sheh – who shares a father-daughter bond with Hui – was unable to hold back her tears when asked about his condition.

The 50-year-old revealed that she had been aware of Hui’s health issues for some time but chose not to disclose any further details about it.

Sheh also added that she’ll be returning to Hong Kong soon to visit Hui.
