Stacey Hatfield, an Australia-based nutritionist and food influencer, has died from complications after having a childbirth at home. She was 30.

Her husband Nathan Warnecke announced her passing on Sunday (Oct 19) on social media.

“Its with heavy heart that (I) share with you the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, soul mate and best friend, Stacey Warnecke (Hatfield),” he wrote in an emotional tribute on Instagram.

Hatfield’s widower went on to confirm the Natural Spoonfuls content creator gave birth to the couple’s first child, a son named Axel, at home before her death on Sept 29.

“Tragically, shortly after, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose and she passed after being transferred to hospital,” he revealed. “Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts.”

Hatfield gained international fame for promoting low-toxin food and healthier living through website Natural Spoonfuls and social media channels.

In his post, which featured snapshots of the couple’s wedding and Hatfield with a pregnant belly, Warnecke wrote that he had known his wife for nine years and that “she was the light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning.”

He added: “Words can’t do justice to how devastating this is for myself and everyone that knew and loved her … She was my lighthouse in the storm and the world is less bright without her in it.”

In another post shared by Natural Spoonfuls’ Instagram account from Hatfield’s “best friends,” the newborn Axel Grae Warnecke is seen sleeping in a bassinet. Other images show the new dad holding his baby at home.

The caption announced that a GoFundMe campaign has been established to raise $50,000 to support the father and son: “Stacey and Nathan lived a quiet, love-filled life. They never would have asked for help. So I’m asking on their behalf. Nathan is stepping into fatherhood with unimaginable strength and grace. There’s so much on his plate right now, and if you’re able to support him through this GoFundMe … created by his uncle … it would mean the world.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
