Happy is what happens when all your dreams come true.

And Wicked fans in Singapore are going to be very happy when the stars from the movie land in the Lion City on Nov 13, the only Asian stop in the international promotional tour for the upcoming sequel Wicked: For Good.

The Asia-Pacific premiere will be held at Universal Studios Singapore (USS) in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), to be graced by American singer-actress Ariana Grande, British actress Cynthia Erivo, Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, American actor Jeff Goldblum and American director Jon M. Chu.

The evening will feature a handprint ceremony and culminate in the screening at the theme park’s Pantages Hollywood Theatre. An exclusive fan event will also take place at Weave, RWS’ lifestyle and community space, as a prelude to the premiere.

Guests at USS will have the chance to catch the cast of Wicked: For Good walk the yellow carpet. The USS Premiere Day Special for Nov 13 is available in limited quantities from S$93 (adult) and S$72 (child). Go to www.rwsentosa.com/uss for more information.

The global tour will also stop by cities like Sao Paulo, Paris, London and New York.

In the tour announcement video posted on film distributor UIP Singapore’s Instagram on Oct 10, Erivo said: “We’re headed your way, Singapore. Get ready for something truly magical.” Her co-star Grande added: “We can’t wait to see you.”

Opening in Singapore and Malaysia cinemas on Nov 20, Wicked: For Good is the follow-up to the hit fantasy musical movie Wicked (2024) and is set in the Land of Oz before and after the arrival of Kansas girl Dorothy Gale from The Wizard Of Oz.

Both films are adapted from the 2003 stage musical Wicked.

Wicked: For Good follows the witches Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande), whose friendship is put to the test as they embrace their new identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good respectively.

The now demonised Elphaba lives in exile, hidden within the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Goldblum).

Meanwhile, under the instruction of Madame Morrible (Yeoh), Glinda is deployed to serve as an effervescent comfort to Oz, reassuring the masses that all is well under the rule of The Wizard.

In addition, Glinda is preparing to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) in a spectacular Ozian wedding.

Wicked was wildly successful when it opened in cinemas in November 2024, grossing over US$756mil worldwide. It received 10 nominations at the 2025 Academy Awards, and won two Oscars for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design at the ceremony in March.

Lee Shi Ruh, RWS’ chief executive, said in a press statement: “Universal Studios Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa are thrilled to welcome Wicked: For Good, one of the world’s biggest cinematic events, to Singapore.

“Bringing together the cinematic glamour of Hollywood and the immersive world of Universal Studios Singapore, this event stands as a testament to RWS as a premier destination for world-class entertainment and unforgettable moments.” – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
