K-pop star Lisa, who also stars in the most recent season of The White Lotus, is facing backlash after wearing Louis Vuitton lingerie to the Met Gala that appears to be illustrated with Rosa Parks’ face.

The 28-year-old Thai star of Blackpink sported a pearl-encrusted black blazer with a pearl chain to fashion’s biggest night, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Lisa also wore sheer tights emblazoned with the Vuitton’s signature symbols, over which were panties that appeared to bear the face of the late civil rights activist.

Vogue reported that acclaimed Black artist Henry Taylor, known for embroidering miniature works onto clothing did so for the ensemble worn Monday (May 5) by Lisa, real name Lalisa Manobal.

“Using Rosa Parks’ image in this manner appears to be a blatant lack of respect and sensitivity towards her legacy and the struggles she faced during the Civil Rights Movement,” read one tweet.

“Lisa needs to fire her whole PR team at this point,” reads one tweet, posted in all caps. “Why is (Rosa) Parks on your p— girl!!!”

“WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA????? Mind you not only is it highly distasteful how is this on theme?” read another.

This year’s “Tailored for You” theme linked to the Met’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit, which it describes as “a cultural and historical examination of Black style over three hundred years through the concept of dandyism.”

The exhibit also “explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe.”

Parks, who was 92 when she died in 2005, organised the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott to protest segregated seating on buses.
